Penelope’s Whimsical Woodland Inspired Nursery

One of the things we absolutely love about this modern woodland inspired nursery is that it was designed to grow with the child. The family chose all white walls and used decorative items to add pops of color to the space. Shelby Rae Photographs captures all of the pretty little details of sweet Penelope's nursery.

The key to creating a bedroom your child won't outgrow is to use a neutral and more sophisticated color palette and purchase multipurpose furniture. Choosing a crib that will transition into a toddler bed is a great way to think ahead and possibly save you money down the road.

What inspired your nursery design?
We wanted to create a girly, whimsical room for Penelope that she could also grow in. We started with her white crib and “Magical Forest” crib sheets from Pehr as inspiration. I loved the little animals wearing flower crowns in the crib sheets so I decided to go with that theme.

I ordered prints from Etsy, added in greenery (plants, cactus, hanging plants) and wooden bookshelves to create a forest vibe. We love how it turned out! The all white is calming, clean and we can always add different pops of color in as she grows.
