Tips to Get Your Dog Ready for The New Baby

“I thought I was your baby!”

If your fur baby could speak that's exactly what they would say. If you're looking for a fun and simple way to announce your pregnancy then you are going to love this pregnancy announcement captured by the PK Photographs!

Like all of us dog-obsessed mamas, Meghan's biggest obsession is her corgi, Olive. They couple wanted to announce to the world that they were expecting a (human) baby, so of course, they needed Olive's help!

Tips for preparing your dog for the new (human) baby

  • If possible, now would be a good time to enroll your dog in a basic obedience class. Having a wild dog that jumps on you when you walk in the door is going to make carrying your new baby very difficult.
  • Expose your dog to babies/children. Children do unexpected and crazy things, and your dog may not know how to react. By pre-exposing them to children you can prepare them for their new brother or sister.
  • Play pretend. As crazy as it sounds, playing loud noises (like a baby crying) can help your dog get used to those high-pitched cries soon to be coming your way.
  • Include your dog. Instead of banishing the dog from the new baby's room, include them. Let them come in while you are setting up the nursery and get used to the new surroundings and smells.
