We recently had a comment contest to give our readers the chance to be featured on the blog. We were over the moon excited to get Brittany's The Notebook inspired engagement photos in our inbox! Brittany and her fiance Andrew were inspired by The Notebook for the bathing suit portion of their engagement shoot and the whimsical and woodsy photos were inspired by Pinterest.
When and where is your wedding?
Our wedding will be September 10, 2016 at Geraldos at la salle park in Burlington Ontario
How did your fiance pop the question?
Andrew started the day by taking me to the Elmwood spa in Toronto. After a little bit of pampering, he took me to the Allan Garden Conservatory. We walked through the garden admiring the rows of tropical flowers. When we got to the end of the garden, Andrew popped the question. He got down on one knee and began to say things that I will never forget.
After some kissing, hugging and a lot of tears we took some photos with the photographer he hired to capture the whole thing. We spent the rest of the day and night at a swanky Toronto hotel (The Hazelton) drinking champagne and taking it all in.
What difficulties have you faced while planning your wedding?
I think our biggest difficulties so far have been staying on budget, finding our venue, and making our guest list. We had set our budget before we had even gotten engaged, but it was easy to lose sight of it once the excitement of the engagement actually set in.
We went through a lot of venues before we found ours and it was hard not to get discouraged. A lot of the venues we saw were gorgeous, but they just didn't feel right. We followed our gut and eventually by accident stumbled upon our venue which we immediately fell in love with.
The guest list was a struggle because we both have large families and a lot of family friends. The reality is not everyone can be invited. It's hard to decide who to cut and who to keep without getting push back from our parents or potentially hurting someone's feelings.
What advice would you give to other brides-to-be?
Remember to stay true to who you are as a couple when making decisions about the wedding. Enjoy being engaged and the process of wedding planning, try not to sweat the small stuff. After all you will be married your whole life and only get to be engaged for a short time.
Stress is not a requirement of wedding planning, it is never to early to get wedding tasks done… the earlier you get things done the less stressed you will feel closer to the wedding.
