Caitlyn and Matt were married with no bridal party! It definitely wasn't due to lack of friends and family, it was because they didn't want to lose focus on the meaning of the day. Oldani Photography does such a great job capturing their playful laid back brewery wedding.
What were the top three priorities for you when planning your wedding?
Honestly, we only had one priority. It sounds cheesy but the most important thing to us was just to get married. All of the little extras weren't important, but they sure were fun!
Did you have a wedding theme/idea/colors etc. in mind before you starting planning?
Mint green is my favorite color so we wanted to incorporate that into our decor. Besides that we wanted to keep the decor simple and fun. I love crafting and sewing so we knew a lot of things would be do it yourself.
When shopping for your wedding dress, how did you know you found “the one”? What was it like?
The day I went wedding dress shopping I had a horrible attitude and was convinced I wouldn't find a thing. My mom and sisters drug me along and kept telling me we would just go for fun. i tried on a few and my bad attitude started to go away but when I tried on my dress I just felt excited! Between how the dress made me feel and the expressions on my mom and sister's faces I knew immediately it was the one.
Did you have a bridal shower or bachelorette party?
I had a bridal shower and bachelorette party! I'm so lucky to have incredible people around me that wanted to celebrate this exciting time. The bachelorette party was perfect. My best friends rented a lake house and we relaxed and caught up for an entire weekend. It was a blast!
Throughout your wedding planning did anything surprise, irritate, or bum you out?
Of course, there were little bumps along the way with wedding planning. Luckily any time something didn't go our way Matt and I would remind each other that at the end of the day we would be married and that's all that truly mattered.
Did you do a first look? Would you recommend it to future brides?
We did a first look and loved it! It was so nice to see each other before the wedding. It calmed nerves and was really fun. A few minutes into our first look all of our flower girls and ring bearers came over to play and it was spontaneous and fun to see everyone laughing and happy.
Throughout your wedding day, did you have anything go wrong or a “Bummed Bride” moment? If so, how did you handle it?
I forgot my perfume that I bought just for the wedding day! I mentioned it to my mom and somehow it made it to the reception and I was able to wear it for the evening. It was so nice that she found a way to get it there!
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
My absolute favorite moment from my wedding day was when the DJ opened up the dance floor. He called us out on the floor and asked everyone to surround us. He played Shout and I thought it was so silly at first but when I looked around I realized we were surrounded by people we loved and everyone was singing and dancing. It was the best way to start our lives together. We felt so loved and so happy.
What is your best advice for brides planning their wedding?
My best advice is to just relax and go with the flow! Don't lose sight of the goal: to get married. Everything else that happens is just a bonus.
