The Baby Item that Helps You Get Things Done; Like Sleep!

When we brought #BabyCow home from the hospital the plan was to use our bassinet or crib. But Jack had a different plan. His plan was to scream his head off because he hated the cold hard mattress. Now, don't get me wrong, we did use our bassinet (and loved it) but when Jack was brand new, he did not.

Jack would constantly wake up during the night crying and after a little research, we decided to try rolling up swaddles and sticking them under his bassinet sheet. We tried it and then my husband so cleverly pointed out, “Aren't we just making a DockATot? Why don't we just put him in his DockATot”?

(Jack is one day old here. He's really used this thing since day one!)

So the first night we tried the DockATot Jack probably slept two more hours than he normally does. Now that might not sound like a lot of sleep but when you are getting zero hours of sleep and running on absolutely nothing, two hours is a lot.

Since the baby is used to sleeping and relaxing in their dock it makes traveling much easier. When we visited Jack's grandparents for the first time sleeping actually went pretty smoothly. Even though Jack was in an unfamiliar place he went down for his naps with no issues because he was used to napping in his dock.

(We were only going for the weekend. We weren't moving there! 😉 )

But sleep is not DockATot's only use. As a new mom, I wondered how I would get anything done; like take a shower or make something to eat. The DockATot definitely helped with all of these used-to-be normal routines. I could simply dock Jack on the couch or the floor while I prepared dinner and he would sleep or just hang out and watch me.

Obviously, your new baby wants to be close to their mommy, this being said, Jack would cry if I left him in his crib when he was wide awake. So if I wanted to look like a human and not some scary dark-circled sleepless monster, I would dock Jack in my closet so I could do my makeup.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with DockATot, it is a multi-functional lounger, co-sleeper, and playtime lounger. It comes in two sizes (Deluxe for 0-8 months and Grand for 9-36 months). Their products are made in Europe. Moms can feel at ease (if DockATot's are used properly) because they are tested for breath-ability and are OEKO-TEX certified.

(The DockATot is great for tummy time too, especially early-on when they hate it so much)

I have to say, the Dockatot is  one of the top items I would recommend for new moms. Having a safe place to set your babe down while you get a few things done is priceless.

But, it turns out none of what I just said matters because our frenchie thinks it's her fancy new dog bed and she generally gets what she wants. 😉
